There are many reasons why dogs eat grass:
- Dogs just get bored and it tastes good to them
- Your dog might be missing something in his or her diet. Make sure to feed your dog a well-balanced diet.
- Your dog may have an upset stomach and this helps relieve the feeling of an upset stomach
- Your dog may be experiencing anxiety and grass can help them feel better
- Your dog’s wild ancestors ate grass to help rid themselves of parasites
- Your dog may be doing this because they just want to eat something that is not food.
- Your dog may naturally need and want more fiber, and grass has the fiber they need
- Your dog may feel sick and eating grass will help
Very Important-If your lawn has been treated with pesticides or herbicides your dog needs to see a veterinarian right away if you see him eating the grass.
**The most important point here is that you should make sure that your dog is not eating an excessive amount of grass because this could point to something being wrong with your pet. Please contact a veterinarian if this is happening.
If your dog is eating a large amount of grass, or is having diarrhea or vomiting, please contact your Vet to make sure your dog is not sick.
